Chelsea Football Club have announced the passing of former player and legend, Bobby Tambling, who has died after a prolonged battle at the age of 84.
Chelsea issued a statement to announce Tambling’s passing sending condolences to the deceased’s family, friends and close associates expressing sadness over their former player’s death.
‘Chelsea Football Club has very sadly lost one of our most legendary players with the passing of Bobby Tambling at the age of 84,” the statement, on Thursday reads in bit.
”We send our deepest condolences to Bobby’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
The Englishman who played for the club from 1959, at 17-year-old, till 1970, making over 370 appearances for the side, held the club’s top scorer’s record with 202 goals, sequel to the feat beaten by the current holder, Frank Lampard, who broke the record in May 2013 and finishing his spell at the west London club with 211, a current record.
Tambling finished his career in the Republic of Ireland and settled in Cork, where he managed local sides Cork Celtic, Cork City and Crosshaven.
He made three appearances for the English national team scoring one goal.
