Speaking during an interview on TVC, Brymo criticised the popular “Big 3” narrative associated with Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, claiming the industry has become too focused on a handful of artistes.
“We need to stop talking about how new artists don’t have substance,” Brymo said.
“The industry needs to focus on the barbaric behaviour in the background, some artists trying to lock down the industry for themselves, calling themselves ‘Big 3,’ ‘Big 4,’ wanting to be forever.”

The singer argued that younger artistes are struggling to gain visibility because the mainstream pop space remains crowded with older stars who, in his view, are not evolving creatively.
He specifically cited Rema as an example of a younger artiste who should be leading conversations in the country’s pop music landscape.
“They should shift aside. It is a pop scene, they should evolve into something else. Right now, Rema should be the biggest pop star in the country without any doubt,” he stated.
Brymo also dismissed the notion that radio airplay alone determines an artiste’s relevance, insisting that influence and popularity should be measured by audience engagement and the ability to connect with current trends.
He further questioned the continued dominance of veteran stars in mainstream pop conversations, arguing that longevity should come with artistic evolution rather than maintaining the same space occupied by younger acts.
His comments have sparked debate among music fans, with supporters agreeing that the industry should create more room for emerging talents, while critics argue that success in music should be determined by audience demand rather than age or years spent in the industry.
