A group of bandits have abducted a primary school teacher, Shina Adeoye, following an attack by a gang of bandits terrorizing residents in Kwara State.
Adeoye was said to have been ambushed by the insurgent group while heading to work station after which he was held and then taken away leaving his colleagues, students, and community members in deep anxiety, with fears mounting over his safety.
The abduction of the teacher of Cooperative Primary School in Eruku, where the incident happened on Thursday morning, led to reaction from residents of the community describing the development as another painful reminder of worsening insecurity in the axis.
“We woke up to the shocking news that Mr Adeoye had been kidnapped on his way to Eruku. He is a teacher and well-known here,” a respondent said.
“Everybody is worried because nobody knows where they have taken him,” he added, after which resident stated that the road has become very dangerous.
“People travel with fear because there is hardly any visible security presence along the axis,” the source lamented.
“The route has become increasingly unsafe due to limited security presence, despite repeated complaints to authorities.

“Those using the Obbo-Ile–Eruku Road are no longer safe. Criminals are taking advantage of security gaps,” an emotional individual said, adding, “We are appealing to government and security agencies to act before the situation worsens,” the community member said.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no response from the Kwara state police command on the fresh abduction.
