Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued 23 abducted residents and travellers after bandits attacked both a village and a commercial vehicle in Kogi State.
The army said that it received an information of a kidnap attempt by a group of bandits after which i deployed it’s officers to track down the fleeing criminals which forced them to abandon several of their captives, leading to the successful recovery of 23 residents and travellers as well as two Toyota commercial buses and a HOWO truck that had been abandoned along the route during the attack
The military, on Monday, informed that the abduction occurred in the early hours of Monday along the Ayegunle–Bunu road in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area where the bandits attacked a community and a vehicle carrying travellers.
It added that added that operations were continuing to locate and rescue any remaining persons still in captivity.
Following the incident, the injured victims were taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Kabba for treatment, the military assuring the residents that troops remain on the trail of the attackers and are committed to restoring security in the area.
