Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected terrorist who has been linked with terrorists network causing unrest in Kogi State communities.
The army was identified as a key informant to a host of bandit group, adding that preliminary investigations have revealed that the individual maintained close ties with a wanted terrorist leader known as Kachallah Baccujo.
It military held that the arrestee was nabbed on Monday at 11:59om, in the Lokoja Local Government Area of the State.
On Thursday, a military source familiar with the arrest revealed that troops were tracking fleeing terrorists through the Adankolo Forest axis when they intercepted the suspect in the Odo Ape Forest area.
“The suspect is believed to have played an active role in supplying information to the terrorist network.
“His arrest is expected to assist ongoing efforts to dismantle the group’s operations and uncover other collaborators”, the military source added.
Meanwhile, during a search conducted after the arrest, soldiers recovered two mobile phones believed to contain information relevant to ongoing investigations.
Following the arrest, the suspect was handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
