The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has relieved a media aide attached to the Office of the Political Adviser to the Governor, Osborne Ubong, of his appointment over alleged disloyalty.
Although the governor did not disclose the specific actions that led to the aide’s dismissal, the statement noted that the decision became necessary to preserve the integrity of the office and ensure loyalty among personnel serving in the political advisory unit.
The dismissal was conveyed in a statement signed by the Political Adviser to the Governor, Prince Godwin, and made available to journalists on Tuesday.
The statement read, “Following actions bordering on disloyalty and considering the necessity to always keep the Office of the Political Adviser purified, it has become compelling that you, Mr Osborne Ubong Okon, be and is hereby relieved of your engagement as a Media Aide to the Political Adviser to His Excellency the Governor, with immediate effect and from today, June 2, 2026.”
The statement further warned members of the public against conducting any official business with the former aide on behalf of the Office of the Political Adviser.
“Any person having dealings with the above-mentioned former Media Aide in relation to this office of his former engagement does so at his or her own peril,” the statement added.
Efforts to obtain a reaction from the affected aide were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
