The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, have called on United States President Donald Trump to sustain and strengthen America’s support for Nigeria’s fight against terrorism.
Speaking at the “Faith Heroes Award Gala” organised by the Save Nigeria Group USA in Washington, D.C., the two clerics praised recent US military actions against terrorist camps in Nigeria and urged the American leader to do more to help end the country’s security crisis.
Adeboye seeks stronger US support
Adeboye said terrorism had reached alarming levels in Nigeria and appealed for greater international intervention, stressing that local efforts alone were no longer sufficient to defeat extremist groups.
He urged Trump to continue supporting military operations against terrorists, saying such assistance would help restore peace across the country.
The RCCG leader also disclosed that his church had continued providing humanitarian assistance to victims of terrorism through internally displaced persons camps, food distribution and plans to establish schools and vocational training centres.
Oyedepo warns of worsening insecurity
Represented at the event, Oyedepo described Nigeria as being on the brink of collapse because of persistent insecurity.
He backed proposed US legislation aimed at strengthening action against terrorism and religious persecution in Nigeria, warning that urgent intervention was needed to prevent further deterioration of the security situation.
“My heart bleeds as I put down these few lines. We look forward to a nation that will be safe, peaceful, and prosperous again,” he said.
Global coalition urged
The event also featured calls from American officials and human rights advocates for stronger international cooperation against terrorism in Nigeria.
Participants urged the United States Congress to support measures aimed at combating extremist groups and protecting vulnerable communities, maintaining that sustained global action remains critical to restoring lasting peace in Nigeria.
