Residents of Abuja on Saturday staged a protest against rising insecurity, increasing cases of kidnapping and the growing cost of living, marching through parts of the Federal Capital Territory and causing major traffic disruptions.
The demonstrators gathered along the Karu-Nyanya highway and other parts of the city, calling on authorities to take stronger measures to address persistent security challenges and worsening economic conditions affecting residents.
The protest led to heavy traffic congestion along the busy highway as participants marched through the area under the watch of security personnel. Officers of the Nigeria Police Force and soldiers were deployed to strategic locations to monitor the situation and maintain order.
