THE Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) says its 2026 International Conference will shape Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda and drive innovation to boost economic revitalisation, job creation and inclusive development.
The NCS President, Mr Muhammad Aliyu, disclosed this on Monday in Lagos while unveiling the conference, tagged: “RISE 2026” scheduled for July in Jos.
Aliyu said the conference had the theme: “Digital Innovation and Emerging Technologies for Inclusive Growth, Sustainable Development and Economic Resilience.”
“The conference will be more than an annual gathering. It will serve as a platform for ideas, innovation, collaboration and national renewal through technology.
“Discussions will examine artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, blockchain, fintech, cloud computing, digital health, education technology, robotics, big data and smart governance,” Aliyu said.
According to the NCS president, more than 2,000 delegates including government officials, technology leaders, researchers, entrepreneurs, investors and development partners are expected at the conference.
Aliyu disclosed further that the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani; Information and Communications Technology regulators, international technology experts and African computer society presidents would participate at the conference.
He said hosting the conference in Jos reflected the NCS’ commitment to rotating its flagship event nationwide, to strengthen regional innovation and promote national integration.
He said that Plateau State’s growing innovation ecosystem, peaceful environment and improving digital infrastructure made it an ideal destination for the international conference.
Aliyu said the event would feature policy dialogues, executive forums, innovation exhibitions, research presentations, youth hackathons and networking sessions to advance Nigeria’s digital economy.
Also, the NCS Deputy President, Dr Charles Onyeukwu, said the conference underscored Africa’s determination to become a major force in the global digital economy.
“The current industrial revolution is driven by knowledge and innovation.
Africa must rise to take its rightful place in the global digital economy,” he said.
The Chairman of the NCS Education Committee, Dr Olusoji Okunoye, said over 700 secondary school students participated in this year’s Information Technology Whizkid Competition nationwide.
Okunoye said winners would compete at the national finals in Jos, reinforcing the society’s commitment to nurturing future technology professionals.
On his part, the Chairman of NCS, Plateau State Chapter, Dr Yinka Oyerinde, assured participants of adequate logistics, internet connectivity, stable power supply and accommodation throughout the conference.
He said that the Plateau State Government and relevant institutions were collaborating with organisers to ensure a successful conference.
Samuel Ojo, the National President, Nigerian Association of Computing Students described the conference as a platform for young innovators to showcase research and emerging technologies.
He said the conference would strengthen collaborations among government, academia, industry and young innovators, advancing Nigeria’s digital competitiveness and economic resilience. (NAN)
