The member representing Ovia North East I State Constituency in the Edo state House of Assembly, Charity Aiguobaruekhian, Wednesday said he aligned with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) because the platform represents consistency and loyalty in politics.
Aiguobaruekhian stated this during the flag-off of his consultation visits to leaders of the party, when he formally informed them of his intention to contest the Ovia Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives during the 2027 general elections.
The former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker described the reception accorded him by party leaders and supporters as overwhelming, adding that the acceptance he received reflected the confidence the people had in his leadership.
He said his political decisions had always been guided by the trust reposed in him by constituents and his commitment to delivering quality representation.
“I embraced the NDC because it is a symbol of consistency and loyalty. The platform has continued to stand for values that place the interest of the people above personal ambition,” he said.
Aiguobaruekhian noted that throughout his time in office, he had remained committed to programmes and policies that directly impacted the lives of the people rather than pursuing selfish interests.
He added that his achievements in office, including bursary schemes for students, provision of electricity and infrastructural interventions, had strengthened his relationship with constituents.
The lawmaker further expressed confidence that his track record and closeness to the people would work in his favour in the 2027 elections, adding that residents of Ovia Federal Constituency were eager to attract more democratic dividends to the area.
