Uba Sani has Transformed Kaduna Beyond Recognition – Presidency
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has expressed pleasant surprise on the level of all-round development in Kaduna state in the last three years.
Onanuga said this on Thursday night at the new Government House Banquet Hall in Kaduna where Governor Uba Sani hosted a team of Presidential media aides and selected journalists to a dinner.
The Villa media team and journalists are on a tour of the seven northwest states to ascertain the progress being made on President Bola Tinubu Ahmed Tinubu projects and that of respective state governors.
Onanuga said based on what he saw during the day, Governor Sani had used infrastructural development, stakeholder engagement and peace building efforts to change the story of the state from that of North-South division and insecurity to that of unity and stability.
He acknowledged that the Governor Sani has proven to be a sincere activist by not only fighting for the restoration of democracy in the military days but also ensuring good governance and justice for all sections as governor of the state.
The team saw some of the 150 road projects started by the Sani-led administration including the completed 35-kilometre road from Gadan-Gaya through Gwaraji to Kujama road which connects 76 farming communities across three local government areas (Igabi, Kajuru and Chikun). The team also inspected the fully-equipped 320-bed Bola Tinubu Specialist Hospital which was abandoned by successive administrations but completed by the Sani administration.
The media team equally saw the wholesome rehabilitation of the Tundun Biri village in Igabi local government area where the 2023 unfortunate drone strike took place. The delegation observed that the Federal and state government and the military authorities have built a befitting road, church, mosque and housing estate for the community dwellers as compensation for the tragic incident.
The team also saw the expansive skill accusation centre constructed for young people at Rigachukun, Kaduna Central, while similar projects are said to be in Kaduna South and Kaduna North.
“Governor Uba Sani has a history as a human rights activist, as a fighter for democracy. And what he has demonstrated, what we have seen today, is that he is not just an armchair critic or leader; he has shown that given the opportunity, he would walk the talk, he would do those things that he has been talking about.
“I am surprised that for decades, two decades or so, some communities did not have roads. I noticed one of the communities, Kafanchan, for instance. I have a driver from there, he always tells me that during the tenure of the former governor, the entire Kaduna South was abandoned. What I’ve seen here is a different narrative, that Governor Uba Sani is opening up everywhere, is developing every part of the state.
“We have seen what Governor Sani has done with the proceeds of fuel subsidy removal which the President has been giving to the states. When I go to Abuja, I will go to the President and say, ‘Mr. President, that money you are giving to the states, I have seen them in action in Kaduna.’ You can imagine what he will do if the people of Kaduna—and I have no doubt it will happen— give him a second term when we do elections next year,” he said.
