The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to 13 academic programmes at Muhammad Kamalud-deen University, Kwara State.
The NUC, while marking the development stated that the institution, less than three years after it began operations were subjected to 13 accreditation by the National Universities Commission, adding that all 13 programmes passed the exercise, represent a 100 per cent success rate, thus, leading to the accreditation.
The Pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Rasheed Jimoh, disclosed the development in Ilorin on Tuesday uttering that the timing and location underscore the significance of the achievement.
Jimoh further said that the purpose of the accreditation was to confirm that the university had met national benchmarks in curriculum quality, staffing, infrastructure, and governance.
He explained that each of these programmes underwent rigorous evaluation and was found to have satisfied the required standards in both academic delivery and infrastructural provisions.
The VC added that the accreditation positions the university for full participation in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, ensuring graduates face no limitations, stressing that the institution maintains inclusivity.
“We have Christian students who are given absolute freedom to practise their religion and attend church services without any restriction, and there is no form of discrimination whatsoever,”
Jimoh further revealed that the university underwent institutional accreditation between April 20 and 22, 2026, successfully upgrading from a provisional to a full operational licence.
“Among universities licensed in 2023, we are the only institution to have achieved programme accreditation at this stage, which is a strong indicator of our commitment to quality assurance,” he said.
He commended the Federal Government for enforcing standards across Nigerian universities.
“We commend the Federal Government for setting standards that ensure the delivery of quality education, as it strengthens the credibility of the university system,” he noted, pledging continued focus on excellence, research, and innovation.
Programmes accredited under the Faculty of Humanities, Management and Social Sciences include B.A. Arabic Language, B.A. English, B.A. History and International Studies, B.A. Islamic Studies, B.Sc. Accounting, B.Sc. Business Administration, and B.Sc. Economics. The Faculty of Science, Computing and Information Technology secured accreditation for B.Sc. Chemistry, Physics with Electronics, Plant Science and Biotechnology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Software Engineering.
