Five bus passengers die in Ogun road accident

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has confirmed the death of five bus passengers as well as other injured victims who were involved in an auto crash in Ogun State.

The FRSC disclosed that the deceased persons, who were part of the 20 persons, in the Mazda E2000 bus, with Registration Number KRD809XC, were burnt to death, while the injured ones have been subjected to serious injuries.

The spokesperson of the FRSC Command in Ogun, Afolabi Oyewole, said that the bus which had six adult males and 11 adult females alongside one male child and two female children, lonely crashed along the Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway at about 11:12am on Thursday, with five other bus occupants leaving the scene unscathed.

Oyewole cited speeding and overloading as the cause of the accident, adding that the injured victims were taken to the General Hospital in Ifo and Ore Ofe Specialist Hospital, Itori, for medical intervention, while the corpses of the dead persons have been deposited at the General Hospital, also in Ifo.

The command’s Sector Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, advised motorists to shun overloading and other traffic violations, urging drivers to obey traffic regulations during and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
