Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar has conferred the traditional title of ‘Soniyanko Nupe’ (Great Queen of Nupe Land) on the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Abubakar, who is also the Chairman of Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, conferred the title on the first lady during a courtesy visit to the monarch at his palace on Saturday in Bida.
The Etsu Nupe said the honour was in recognition of the humanitarian support and assistance rendered by Senator Tinubu to victims of insecurity and natural disasters, especially the Mokwa flooding in the state.
The monarch described her husband, President Bola Tinubu, as a friend of Nupe Kingdom and assured him of continuous support and prayers for the success of policies and programmes for national development.
Responding, the first lady appreciated the Etsu Nupe for the honour and pledged continued support to the palace and the people of Niger State.
Tinubu said the conferment of the traditional title had further challenged her to do more for Nupe Kingdom and the state at large.
