Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has said that everybody in the state will vote for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential elections.
Okpebholo said the people of Edo are happy with the interventions of the president across Nigeria through the state governors and that they are solidly behind his re-election bid.
The governor said this during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on the night of Thursday, April 30.
He also boasted that the streets of Edo are littered with at least 2.5 million votes for the president in the forthcoming election.
According to him, residents of the state will come out en masse during the polls, mainly because of the money given to the state by President Tinubu.
“I will get the 2.5 million votes from Edo State, it’s already on the streets, everybody is coming to vote for Asiwaju on that day.
“Because of the work we are doing, because of the money Tinubu is releasing to us to work for him and that is what you are seeing on the street,” Okpebholo said.
Speaking on the past presidential election, Okpebholo said Peter Obi, the 2023 candidate of the Labour Party won in the state due to the failure recorded by his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki.
He explained that the people of Edo voted for Obi as punishment for Obaseki’s inability to deliver good governance in the state.
“Peter Obi defeated Tinubu last time because the then governor (Obaseki) was not working, he was in the PDP and people want to voice out that this governor is not working and anybody coming we are going to do it the other way around,” Okpebholo added.
