Two commissioners in Adamawa State have stepped down from their positions in Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s cabinet, with their resignations taking immediate effect.
The officials are Chief Felix Tangwami, who served as Commissioner for Health and Human Services, and Tijjani Maksha, the Commissioner for Livestock and Aquaculture Development.
Politics Nigeria reports that their exit was formally announced during the State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday in Yola.
The meeting was presided over by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, at the Government House. Members of the council were informed of the development as part of official proceedings.
Speaking after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr James Iliya, explained that the decision by the two commissioners was voluntary.
According to him, both men chose to leave their roles in order to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He stated that their resignation aligns with existing political expectations for public office holders seeking elective positions. This, he noted, allows them to fully concentrate on their campaigns without conflict with their current responsibilities.
The departure of the commissioners is expected to create temporary gaps in the affected ministries. However, government sources indicate that the administration may soon announce replacements or appoint interim officials to ensure continuity in governance.
Chief Tangwami played a key role in the state’s health sector, particularly in strengthening primary healthcare delivery and coordinating public health initiatives.
On his part, Maksha was involved in advancing livestock development and aquaculture projects aimed at boosting food production and rural livelihoods.
