Troops Recover Arms, Arrest Suspects in Delta

Troops of 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have recovered a cache of arms and arrested two suspected criminals during a swift operation in Delta State.

The operation, conducted by troops under Sector 1 of Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe, took place at Ogidigben Community in Warri South West Local Government Area following reports of sporadic gunfire in the area.

Acting on credible intelligence, the troops responded promptly, leading to the recovery of four AK-47 rifles, six magazines, and 106 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

Other items recovered include two knives, ten machetes, and four pairs of rain boots.

The Army said the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation.

Commending the troops for their resilience, the Commander, 63 Brigade, Brigadier General Moronfolu Abdulmoshood Shonibare, urged them to sustain the operational momentum.

 

He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to denying criminal elements freedom of action, warning individuals and groups involved in illegal activities to desist or face decisive action.

The operation underscores ongoing efforts by security forces to curb criminal activities and maintain stability in the Niger Delta region.
