Senator Patrick Ndubueze Fulfils Key Promise as 1x60MVA Mobile Substation Moves from Lagos to Okigwe

One of the legacy projects on which Sen Patrick Ndubueze of Imo North Senatorial District,Nigeria hinged his campaign promises three years ago, today 29th April 2026,received a humongous boost as the long-awaited multi-billion naira heavy duty 1/60 MVA Mobile Transformer(MOBITRA),sourced from the Transmission Company of Nigeria(TCN) and FGN Power Holding Company of Nigeria, is moved from Lagos to Okigwe after completion of several weeks of route survey for hauling logistics.
The 60 Mega Volt Ampere(MVA),on arrival to Okigwe and eventual installation and connection to the ongoing Transmission towers,will not only reconnect the entire Senatorial zone to the National grid but also hugely compliment the power needs of the adjoining state of Abia and parts of Owerri zone that fall within the grid allignment.
In a short ceremony today marking the commencement of the haulage of the sub-station from Lagos,a visibly elated Senator Ndubueze who was physically present at point of departure, could not hold back tears of joy out of excitement in fulfilling this major promise to his long-suffering constituents who have largely been off the National grid for about 20 years now.
He reiterated the fact that his happiness stems from the fact that his resilience and persistent pursuit of this project through diligence and positive perseverance for over two years,eventually came to fruition.
Senator Ndubueze was even more joyful recollecting all the unquantifiable support the Imo state governor, His Excellency Sen Hope Uzodinma continually offered him in course of his efforts towards actualization of this major feat which eluded so many successive administration of the state in the past.
With today’s milestone which will be complimented with the near completion of the ongoing Transmission towers and lines within the zone for some months now,the Greater Okigwe Regional Power Project will soon recalibrate the economic and social life of the entire zone and its catchment areas.
A Mobile Electric Transformer(Mobitra) is a complete Transmission substation and is a trailer mounted self contained unit combining power transformer, high and low voltage switchgears and all its asoociated protective equipments.
It is designed for quick and immediate deployment into service for stepdown of voltage from 132kV to 33kV.
It provides power for immediate needs without taking time to do much civil works for both the high and the low voltage switchgears as in timed demand substation.
It guarantees quick energy supply without much erection at site.
It is economical as it is engineered, assembled at factory and fully tested ready for deployment into use when the source is available.
