
Operatives of the Zamfara State Police Command in have arrested a 30-year-old man discovered with 100 rounds of AK-47 reside ammunition hid contained in the gasoline tank of his motorbike on the Yankara border checkpoint.
The suspect, Umar Sani of Magami Village in Gusau LGA, was intercepted on April 17, 2026, at about 7:20 a.m. by operatives on the Zamfara–Katsina border whereas using a pink Boxer motorbike from Abuja to his hometown.

“A search of the motorbike led to the invention of 100 rounds of seven.62mm reside ammunition for AK-47 rifles hidden within the gasoline tank,” he mentioned.
He added that Sani is in custody as detectives on the State Prison Investigation Division intensify investigations to uncover the supply of the ammunition and arrest different members of the community.
Commissioner of Police CP A.M. Bello mentioned the arrest underscores the command’s proactive method to disrupting the provision chain of unlawful arms fueling criminality within the state.
