Retired personnel of the Nigeria Police Pressure on Monday blocked a gate of the Presidential Villa in protest in opposition to their continued inclusion within the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).
The protesters, working below the aegis of the Police Retired Officers Discussion board of Nigeria (PROF), described the scheme as “fraudulent, unlawful, inhumane, and obnoxious,” and referred to as on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to assent to the Police Exit Invoice.
Based on the retirees, the invoice—handed by the Nationwide Meeting of Nigeria on December 4, 2025, and transmitted to the Presidency on March 16, 2026 would take away police personnel from the CPS if signed into legislation.
Main the protest, the Nationwide Coordinator of PROF, CSP Raphael Irowainu (retd.), stated the demonstration was aimed toward urging the president to behave on the laws.
“Our main purpose right here is to prevail on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to signal our invoice, the invoice exiting the police from the Contributory Pension Scheme handed by the Nationwide Meeting on 4th December 2025 and transmitted to him on sixteenth March, 2026, into legislation, nothing greater than that,” he stated.
Irowainu lamented that whereas different safety businesses have been faraway from the scheme, police personnel stay included.

The retirees argued that the pension scheme has negatively affected their welfare, describing it as a “slavery and premature death-inducing pension scheme.”

In July 2025, retirees staged the same demonstration on the Nationwide Meeting, demanding their removing from the scheme and improved pension situations.
