The Imo state Police command Monday efficiently apprehended two suspected armed robbers and recovered a pump-action rifle and a stolen motorbike in Owerri.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Henry Okoye, said in a press assertion that: “Appearing on credible intelligence, operatives of New Owerri Divisional Headquarters, led by the DPO, CSP Safiyanu Usman Gwarzo, arrested Sohnani Bitrus, 25, and Burfa Selkap, 25, each natives of Karnana, Langtang LGA, Plateau state, on April 3, 2026.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects robbed one Joel Andrew in his residence at about 0400hrs, threatening him with a firearm and unlawfully seizing his purple Daylong motorbike (registration quantity NWA 765 QT). The motorbike has since been recovered. Additional interrogation of the suspects led to the restoration of the pump-action rifle and machete of their hideout inside Okwu-Uratta, Owerri North LGA.
“The suspects will likely be transferred to SCID Owerri for consolidation of ongoing investigation and efforts are persevering with to apprehend any remaining accomplices.”
