Kaduna governor, Uba Sani has said the upcoming Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for June 20 will serve as a key political test for the ruling All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sani, who chairs the Ekiti State Governorship Election Campaign Council, made this known on Sunday upon his arrival at Ado-Ekiti Airport ahead of Monday’s official flag-off of the APC campaign for the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
A total of 13 political parties are contesting in the election.
Speaking on the significance of the poll, Sani said the outcome would reflect the strength and acceptance of the APC under President Bola Tinubu.
He expressed confidence that Oyebanji has effectively secured victory through his performance in office, citing his administration’s people-focused policies and programmes.
Describing the governor as a committed and inclusive leader, Sani noted that his achievements across key sectors have driven visible development and earned him widespread support among the people of Ekiti.
According to him, Oyebanji’s strides in infrastructure, education, youth empowerment, and human capital development position him strongly for a decisive win in the June 2026 election.
“My brother, Governor Oyebanji, has done extremely well. I am here to support his efforts, and I believe the people of Ekiti have seen his impact,” Sani said.
“In education, infrastructure, and youth empowerment, his performance is clear. I have no doubt that Ekiti people will support continuity, which is very important. This election is just a formality,” he added.
Sani was received at the airport by a state delegation led by Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye and was later accompanied to the Government House by Oyebanji, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, and members of the Ekiti State caucus of the National Assembly.
