Aliko Dangote, chairman of the Dangote Group, has met with Yousef bin Mohammed Al-Balawi to explore investment opportunities in energy and infrastructure.
According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the meeting was held on Friday at the ambassador’s residence in the diplomatic quarter in Abuja and aimed at strengthening bilateral economic cooperation between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.
Speaking during the meeting, Al-Balawi said the engagement reflects growing momentum in Saudi-Nigerian economic relations and a shared commitment to deepen cooperation across key sectors.
He said the discussions highlighted the evolving economic partnership between both countries, focusing on investment opportunities of mutual interest, particularly in energy, industry, and infrastructure.
The envoy noted that attention was given to the outcomes of Dangote’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia, alongside opportunities available to the Dangote Group in the kingdom, as well as prospects offered by the Group’s companies to Saudi investors.
Al-Balawi was also said to have hosted a dinner in honour of Dangote and presented him with a commemorative gift to mark the visit.
The engagement comes as Saudi Arabia seeks stronger collaboration with Nigeria’s federal capital territory (FCT), particularly in areas of security, economic development, and green city initiatives.
Al-Balawi commended the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the FCT for efforts towards building a “beautiful green city”.
He added that Saudi Arabia remains open to strengthening ties with the FCT administration and exchanging ideas on sustainable urban development.
