2027: ADC Reps Caucus doubts Amupitan’s impartiality, neutrality 


Caucus of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) within the Home of Representatives stated it doubted the impartiality and neutrality of chairman of the Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, to supervise the 2027 basic elections in a free, honest and credible method.

The caucus said this at a media briefing Monday, saying this adopted current public statements and actions by the chairman, which it deemed to be compromising, partisan, and conflicting.”

It has additionally vowed to petition the Nationwide Judicial Council (NJC) over the actions of some judicial officers in alleged collusion with INEC to undermine the nation’s democratic system. 

Citing Part 83 (5) of the Electoral Act 2026 which clearly prohibits any courtroom of regulation in Nigeria from entertaining any case regarding celebration congresses, the caucus stated, “Sadly, that’s what INEC is enabling by its actions and pronouncements in regards to the inside affairs of the ADC.”
