The Plateau State Authorities has imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Native Authorities Space following a lethal assault that left a number of residents lifeless and others injured.
In a press launch issued on Sunday, the federal government stated the choice was taken after a violent incident in Gari Ya Waye neighborhood, Angwan Rukuba.
“Following the tragic safety incident that occurred at Gari Ya Waye neighborhood Angwan Rukuba at the moment Sunday twenty ninth March 2028 ensuing within the lack of lives, whereas a number of others sustained various levels of accidents.”
The federal government introduced that the curfew takes quick impact in a bid to revive order and stop additional violence.
“The Plateau State Authorities along side safety businesses needs to tell most people of the imposition of a 48 hour curfew inside Jos North Native authorities Space with quick impact, commencing from 12 midnight of twenty ninth March, to 1st April, 2026.”
Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang condemned the assault, describing it as mindless and assuring residents that authorities are taking steps to carry these accountable accountable.
“The federal government underneath the management of His Excellency, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang strongly condemns this barbaric and unprovoked assault on harmless residents and assures the general public that every one needed measures are being taken to apprehend the perpetrators and convey them to justice.”
Residents had been urged to stay calm and help ongoing safety efforts.
“Residents are urged to stay calm, keep vigilant, and cooperate absolutely with safety businesses by offering any helpful info that will help ongoing investigations.”
The federal government stated safety businesses have been mobilised throughout the affected space to implement the curfew and keep peace as investigations proceed.
