The Osun state Police command, Sunday acknowledged that it has arrested 18 suspects in reference to the alleged assault on law enforcement officials in Erin-Osun and Ilobu communities.
An announcement by the police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, mentioned the suspects have been arrested after a sustained and intelligence-driven operation coordinated by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan.
“The suspects, who went into hiding after perpetrating the prison act, have been apprehended via intelligence gathering operations,” Ojelabi mentioned.
He added that one single-barrel gun, one dwell cartridge and one cutlass have been recovered from the suspects.
The suspects are: Olaitan Bashiru “m”, Baale of Apeponroro (53), Tajudeen Aralamo, Baale of Oke Ayepe (65), Mustau Salam, Oluode of Ilobu (45), Jimoh Nurudeen (20), and Adeboye Ashifa (63).
Others are: Ajibola Segun (40), Mustapha Muwaliu (38), Jimoh Quyum (26), Ajani Faruq (20), Musibau Jimoh (35), Ajani Faruq (18), Olaniyan Quadri (40), Fatai Oyawoyin (50), Basiru Olaogun (55) Mutairu Olawoyin (49), Ige Jimoh (60), Olawoyin Samad (18) and Tajudeen Taorid (18).
The command reiterates its dedication to upholding the human rights of all people and warranted that every one these concerned within the prison act will face the complete weight of the regulation to function deterrent to others.
Ojelabi hinted that efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest different fleeing suspects.
“Members of the general public are suggested to stay law-abiding and chorus from acts able to inflicting a breakdown of regulation and order,” Ojelabi mentioned.
