Niger: Police arrest 7 suspects for unlawful mining, vandalisation of presidency property  

The Police in Niger have arrested seven suspects for unlawful mining and vandalisation of presidency property in Gurara native authorities space of the state.

This was contained in an announcement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, Thursday in Minna.

The spokesperson said that the arrest adopted the command’s  effort to guard and safeguard public property in Niger.

He stated on March 22, about 5:00p.m., primarily based on a report of unlawful mining and vandalism at Gurara waterfalls, police operatives connected to Gawu-Babangida Division, carried out a sting operation inside the facility and arrested seven suspects.

Abiodun stated the suspects have been aged between 27 and 40 years, all of Tsauni Space of Gwagwalada, Abuja and Lambata in Niger.

He said that displays recovered from them have been two water pump engines, 14 carpets, six shovels, three diggers, two pipes and 7 head pans.

The PRO stated the case had since been transferred to the SCID Minna for additional investigation.

Abiodun said additional that on March 17, at about 4:00p.m., the same raid was carried out in the identical facility, and eight suspects have been arrested with 13 shovels, six diggers, amongst others have been recovered.

The police spokesman stated the combat in opposition to unlawful mining and vandalism could be sustained. (NAN)
