Senator Ibrahim Shekarau Loses Elder Brother, Dahiru Shekarau

Former Governor of Kano State and Senator, Ibrahim Shekarau, has been thrown into mourning following the loss of life of his elder brother, Malam Dahiru Shekarau.

The passing of the retired Everlasting Secretary was confirmed by household sources on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, prompting an outpouring of condolences from associates, political allies, and members of the Kano group.

Malam Dahiru Shekarau was a distinguished determine in Kano State’s public service. Over the course of his profession, he rose to the rank of Everlasting Secretary — one of many highest positions within the state civil service — and was broadly considered a disciplined, skilled, and principled administrator dedicated to institutional development and efficient governance.
