NAFDAC Denies Banning Amoxicillin Amid Social Media Rumours

The Nationwide Company for Meals and Drug Administration and Management (NÀFDAC) has denied stories it has banned Amoxicillin in Nigeria.

In a press release signed by Director Common of NÀFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, the company mentioned its consideration has been drawn to a deceptive video circulating on social media claiming that the company has secretly banned Amoxicillin in Nigeria.

Adeyeye mentioned: “This declare is solely FALSE. NAFDAC has not banned Amoxicillin. Whereas the company routinely points focused security alerts and remembers on particular substandard or affected batches of medicines, there isn’t a blanket ban on the antibiotic in Nigeria.

“We urge the general public, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders to ignore the misinformation and rely solely on verified updates revealed on NAFDAC’s official channels”.
