Fireplace Catastrophe: Shettima Leads FG Delegation to Kano, Tinubu Orders Probe

President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to guide a high-powered Federal Authorities delegation to Kano to commiserate with victims of the Singer Market hearth catastrophe.
In response to a press release issued on Sunday by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the delegation will depart Abuja on Monday to convey the President’s condolences to merchants who reportedly misplaced billions of naira within the weekend inferno.

The hearth, which started on Saturday night and continued into Sunday morning, precipitated intensive harm on the market and marks the second such incident inside two weeks.

The delegation may also pledge {financial} help on behalf of the Federal Authorities to assist affected merchants and help the Kano State Authorities in facilitating the swift reopening of the market.

Members of the delegation embody Speaker of the Home of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin; Senator Kawu Ismaila; and Chairman of the Home Committee on Appropriation, Rep. Abubakar Kabir Bichi.

Additionally on the staff are the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, and the Director-Basic of the Nationwide Emergency Administration Company (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar.
President Tinubu had earlier spoken by phone with Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, expressing sympathy to the merchants and residents affected by the incident.

Alarmed by the recurrence of fires on the market, the President has ordered a complete investigation into the causes of the repeated outbreaks, directing that needed measures be taken to forestall additional incidents.
