JUST IN: Many Troopers Feared Lifeless as ISWAP Terrorists Assault Navy Base in Borno

Many troopers have been killed following an assault on a navy base in Sabon Gari, Damboa Native Authorities Space of Borno State, by militants of the Islamic State-backed Boko Haram faction, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

In response to reviews, the assault occurred on Thursday when the insurgents stormed the navy formation, firing sporadically and inflicting heavy casualties on troopers and members of the Civilian Joint Activity Power (CJTF).

“There was an assault, many troopers have been killed, however I don’t have the precise determine but,” a navy supply informed SaharaReporters on Saturday.

The supply added that throughout the assault, the attackers set armoured tanks and navy autos ablaze and escaped with an unquantifiable amount of ammunition.

ISWAP later claimed accountability for the assault in a press release, which was accompanied by a video exhibiting its fighters firing in the direction of the navy facility.

The assault comes simply days after seven navy personnel, together with a newly promoted Lieutenant Colonel, have been killed in an ambush by the terrorists.

The Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed was main troops from Maiduguri to Damasak in Mobbar Native Authorities Space of Borno State once they have been ambushed by insurgents on Monday, January 26, 2026.

In response to navy sources, the terrorists deployed explosives and heavy gunfire throughout the ambush. Whereas a number of our bodies have been recovered, many troopers sustained critical accidents, and a yet-to-be-determined variety of personnel stay lacking.

For the reason that loss of life of former Boko Haram chief Abubakar Shekau, ISWAP has continued to strengthen its presence across the Lake Chad area, bolstered by defections of tons of of fighters beforehand loyal to Shekau.
