Applications are now being accepted for the fourth cohort of AUDA-NEPAD’s Home Grown Solutions Accelerator for Pandemic Resilience, which is open to healthcare firms across Africa.
Aligned with the objectives of Agenda 2063 and the African Union’s Energize Africa Initiative, the Home Grown Solutions (HGS) Accelerator for Pandemic Resilience seeks to boost the pandemic resilience of the continent by expediting the establishment of African healthcare enterprises.
This is accomplished by providing early-, growth-, and mature-stage healthcare enterprises with individualized, hands-on support. The accelerator program was started by the official Japanese government agency for development aid, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in collaboration with the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD).
After a successful pilot program in 2021 that supported five businesses in East Africa, the program was successfully expanded throughout Africa in 2022, assisting a second batch of 14 ventures. A third round of funding was then provided in 2023, supporting an additional nine ventures.
These have included, among others, DrugStoc, MDaaS Global, Revital, Rology, Sinapi, and Zuri Health; applications for the most recent call for applications are now being accepted.
